Hi Guys

Here is a little update, first stages of the figure conversion, still loads to do as you will be able to see.......

Just incase you want to know:-

A. He will have a small clay pipe in his left hand.

B. The knife in the right hand needs a little more work.

C. Tops of the sleeves where they join the shoulders will be done once the coat has been fleshed out.

D. Trousers need some tweaking.

E. The Stovepipe, needs a little more thickening up, the height seems OK.

F. Waist coat needs some more looking over before the buttons are added

G. And some adjustment to the toes of the boots

But I think I am getting there, let me know what you think

This is a little something I am working on for the MFCA, most of the basework has been fleshed out, just working on a barrel that I will be casting to make up a couple to place on the base, work then its onto the figure for a major conversion, the figure is the SK miniatures Spanish figure 120mm sculpted originally by Mike Good, I have so wanted to do the conversion of this piece since the figure came out....... any guesses....?

Hi Guys

I have been away from the modelling side for a while, personal problems and health have stopped the progress of anything up till now. So here is my first piece back into the fray, its a little 54mm figure from Alexandros miniatures, that I have added a couple of little touches too, to give the finished figure you see to the left, comments are always welcome. As the title suggests its an Irish so called rebel from the Battle of Wexford in 1809

Hi Guys

Decided on new post with some updates, got lots done before Euro Militaire, but just gonna start work on loads of other things, so I have to keep this up and running. So here is the updates as of yesterday 26th September. The Ringmaster and the Acrobat is finished, although I am thinking of adding a few more details to the figures and the aircraft, we shall wait and see. I also have another Modelcellar figure of the RFC pilot finished up, this earned me a Gold at Euro, well chuffed. Also the piece in the pipline, is the Andrea Viking Fury, this is in its early stages with half the facial area coloured up just detailing to do here, plus I decided to add a shield to the bust to give him something to look over...... after that I have a couple of other busts I am going to get into, along with some other surprise I have in store........

Here is a long over due update to my blog, first up is the finished cavalier conversion of Yuri’s bust. Next up is a painting commission of the Pegaso Mongol Commander Bust. and lastly is a little vignette I am working on for Euro Militaire, Werner Voss and Richthofen from Modelcellar in 1/32 scale and a scratch built Albatros CIX........, and another image of a Werner Voss next to a 1914 Wanderer motorcycle that he rode around on.....

Just a little something I ma taking my time over for the MFCA, a conversion of the Yury Serbryakov Landskecht bust. Slight facial changes I have removed original beard and added my, own, I am not totally happy with that and intend to do more, added the tach as well, also added extra height to the figures left side of the head to make the hat tilt a little more flamboyantly to the right. Torso changed from original I have removed all traces of the gathered shirt and have begun a light cotton shirt to go under a velvety slit doublet, maybe a gourget big frilly lace collar. So masses to do but I feel good basis to work on from here Dave

I am almost finished with this bust now, I have added a patterning to the purple and have finished off the hat, just the hair and beard to do next, I have been worried about getting that right so have been practising that on some thing else, I can also see I need more work on the shirt that I will fix at a later date aswell......

Just a quick update after changing the torso a little, I tried to give the jacket a velvet look going with the dark purple. It moving on slowly.

Sorry its been a while , I have decided to put a couple of pieces on hold while I give the Yury Serbryakov Landsknecht a go, its a beauty and I am enjoying it so much, it is turning into the best piece I have ever painted so far, I think it shows as well...... I will also be doing a conversion of this piece as I bought two of them, this one plus the conversion and a few other bust will be going with me to the MFCA in 2010

Here is the first update of the juglar, I have removed the lute and added a new neck to it, the frets and strings will be added later, I have added a heavy jug from Historex, which fitted brilliantly. These images are just as a fitting together to see how it will look

I am embarking on another couple of bust projects that I hope to have ready for the MFCA in 2010, they are both based on the same bust, Its the Landsknecht Bust from Yury Serebryakov, the first is the bust itself straight from the box, the second is a complete conversion of the bust to a subject close to my heart, many of you will know I am very fond of the 17th century period especially the Thirty Years War and the English Civil Wars, so this will be along the lines of this and will be super detailed. Another project that I am just starting is new figure on the market from Nocturna Models called the El Juglar, that is based on a minstrel / entertainer of about the same period if not earlier, I have converted it slightly already, removing the loot from his left hand and replacing it with a heavy jug, but still keeping the loot so it can be placed on the floor next to him or draped around his back, I haven’t made that decision as of yet. updates will follow. ALso there will be before Euro 1 or 2 painted busts to be done that will be with me very soon........

A quick update for you, I have been very busy on the commission front and have finished two over the last two weeks, the first being the 44th Regiment of Foot from Latorre, the second is a Mongol Bust from PiliPili, I have to admit I did prefer painting the 44th, as this is a better quality figure, but both all in all were very satisfying to finish.

Sorry its been a while I have been busy with a lot of other things for El Greco Miniatures. But here is the latest figure that I have been painting this is a commission fro a Friend of mine in Austria, a great little piece from Latorre and a lovely one to paint. The figure is far from finished and should be ready before Euro Militaire.

I will put new figure as and when they come up as I wish to get on with some stuff of my own for Euro its self, so I have something to show. thanks for looking.

This is a test piece for me as I haven’t done much along these lines only one or two pieces. 54mm Pegaso, depicting the Order of Alcántara, A Spanish order of knights under the order of the Knights of Calatrava. Now I am prepared to take some stick and guidance on this as the information on this order is pretty sketchy, even though the order of Calatrava still kind of exists today. The figure its self has really stood up to the test of time and is still one of the best sellers for Pegaso, says a lot for the sculpting of Pietro Balloni I look forward to the comments

Hi, Here is the latest figure to my collection that I have been working on, its a pegaso 75mm 71st Highland light Infantry regiment. I still have a few things to do on the figure all the gold and a final detail run to clean up some small bits but not much. This is one of the nicest looking figures of the period, although quite a straight up and down pose is quite eye grabbing.....

Here is the almost finished Highlander, just a little bit of touching up and a little snow on the ground, The Tartan is based on a piece of Tartan found in Falkirk from about the correct time period, but it is not Clan Specific, as with most of the Tartans. I have placed the figure on a grassy hill and he is based at the time of the British taking Erquhart Castle in 1296, before the Battle of Falkirk. Let me know what you think.

Here you go a little update on this piece, I have added a texture to the Kilt/Cloak/Bedroll with spraymount spray glue and white enamel over the top, I still have a load of work to do, but have started painting it now.

Hi Guys, well this is my latest project, based on the Pegaso 75mm Highlander, I decided from the start that he was wearing decidedly too little clothing for a highlander, considering the weather up there, so I have given him a leather jerkin/shirt under his tartan bed roll/kilt, let me know what you think.

After painting the Sikh below, I had an idea of converting the bust to a Sikh Pirate from the 17th century, as this would not need much in the way of converting facially or need much doing to the Turban, 99% of the converting would be done to the torso/shoulders, so to show the opulence and quality of materials and braiding applied to the various garments that were stolen and worn by such pirates, I decided to create the main flat materials from magisculp with texturing applied and the braiding from various thicknesses of lead, copper and fuse wire.

JMD Sikh Bust

Hi everybody, just a little update, I wanted get seriously back into painting as this is the most enjoyable part of the Hobby, so I started looking around for a simple but slightly different looking piece and came across this little bust from JMD, A wonderfully sculpted and cast bust it comes in three parts the head and turban, shoulders and the lowest front ammunition pouch. With virtually no cleanup, the bust was in primer in 20 minutes, under a small light making sure it was totally dry before I started. 10 hours of painting over two days, now you see before you the final result. Very enjoyable indeed and a highly recommended piece for any collection.....

Well after a short period away from the brushes and putty I have decided to have a go at a couple more commercial pieces from JMD, Pegaso and Romeo

1st up is a fantasy JMD Bust, lovely little piece and worth every brush stroke this, this is nealy finished and I really enjoyed it.

Next up is the Pegaso 75mm Mounted Hussar, just started the groundwork on this one.

last but not least the Romeo 90mm Crusader, lovely figure so well engineered and sculpted

well I hope to have an update on these and other projects that are in the pipeline, fairly soon.

Here is an update of the ECW bust for El Greco Miniatures, its almost ready for production. Its sculpted predominately in magisculp with other extras made from plasticard to be cast in resin before being cast in metal, the main parts of the bust will be cast in resin.

Here is a commission for El Greco Miniatures, here in the UK, I have been asked to recreate a piece I converted back in 2006/7. This will be in production soon. The head has been sculpted by my late friend Roy Hunt and the rest by me, I have enjoyed it very much and hope to do more.

Antoine Du Puis, Quartermaster 1668

Hi, this is my latest figure its a Romeo 75mm of Antoine Du Puis, he was the Quartermaster on a ship that was captained by Francois L’Olonnaise around 1668. It has been painted mainly in acrylics, with some oil washes and printers inks. There are a few things to finish off along with some more detailing.
